What: You Know My Name
Where: Marcelo T. De Alvear 1540, Recoleta [Google Maps Link]
You Know My Name (Formally El Living) has to be one of my favorite Bars/Clubs in all of Buenos Aires. If you are a music fan, anytime spent in Buenos Aires should involve a visit to You Know My Name.
Located in Recoleta, the basic concept of You Know My Name is a bunch of old school TV’s, monitors and projector screens are scattered around all playing the same music video, usually some awesome song from the 80’s or 90’s. Instead of a DJ, there is a VJ who plays a collection of classic music videos and also live performances. Not only is the music blasted loud, but you also can watch the music video that accompanies the music, adding a fun vibe to the place.
In the main room and bar the “VJ” usually plays classic songs from the 80’s and 90’s. Imagine “Modern Love” by David Bowie followed by a Blur song and then a hit by the Traveling Wilburys.

The Main Room
The Green Room, another room in You Know My Name has a separate “VJ” playing a different set of videos. The songs are more all over the place in The Green Room, sometimes 5 Nirvana or Strokes videos in a row or maybe some more electronic acts like Daft Punk.

The Green Room
While I have not been to You Know My Name any earlier than 1am, it is open as a restaurant before it turns into a bar and would probably be worthwhile to grab some dinner there as well. If you are looking for a great bar/club to check out after a nice dinner in Recoleta, You Know My Name is a great choice!!
